David Turnbull re-joins business at next stage of exciting development plans

UK nutritional supplement manufacturer and supplier to the UK animal industry, UFAC-UK has appointed David Turnbull as its new UK and Ireland Sales Manager, as it enters the next stage of exciting development plans that have been transforming the business over the past three years.

Returning to UFAC-UK having spent four years as Northern Sales Manager between 2012 and 2016, David will officially take up the new role from the start of July 2023.

He will be succeeding Nigel Bateson, who is retiring after a respected career within the animal feeds and genetics sector, most notably in his roles as Area Sales Manager and National Sales Manager at UFAC-UK over the past five years.

“I am excited to be continuing and adding to the work spear-headed by Nigel in this role over the past three years. Nigel has been at the forefront of some of the most exciting developments at UFAC-UK in its history,” says David.

A family-owned business, UFAC-UK manufactures specialist energy, protein and omega 3 supplements from its dedicated manufacturing plant in Woolfox, Rutland, with particular expertise in the use of oils, fats, amino acids and liquid sugars.

David’s recruitment is part of a corporate-wide drive, incorporating new branding and product development, trials and research projects, and a major investment in mill upgrades that are improving efficiencies, sustainability and environmental credentials.

David will be working alongside Nigel until the beginning of July to help continue to drive these initiatives and new developments.

“I am obviously familiar with the company and products, and with the new product innovations and the mill site investment, we really are on the cusp of another major step forward. I look forward to building future successes based on these significant milestones in the company’s history,” he adds.

Before returning to UFAC-UK, David was appointed National Sales Manager and then Commercial Director at Micron Bio Systems, the UK based bio-science solutions business. He then stepped up to the role of European Sales Manager when the business was acquired in August 2021 by Volac.

A well-recognised face in the industry, David began working with Davidsons Feeds, later joining leading animal genetics company Genus, before returning to focus on a career in animal feed sales and nutrition.

Robert Jones, UFAC-UK Managing Director says, “We are delighted to welcome David back to the fold after eight-years, during which time he has added to his already strong breadth and depth of knowledge of the animal feed and nutrition sector.

“We look forward to working with him as he continues our development plans, matching the science of blending and bonding nutrient sources, with the requirements of the evolving and developing farming landscape.”

Operating from the UFAC-UK Newmarket headquarters in Suffolk, David will also spend his time visiting customers and supporting the regional sales teams across the UK and Ireland.

“I am really looking forward to taking on this role. With products such as the new palm-free fat supplement envirolac promising to transform the sector and offer new approaches to feeding livestock, this is a pivotal time for us,” he says.
