As part of our mission to transform the agricultural industry, we looked at ways to reduce reliance on soya bean meal within animal feed. This innovative supplement has the potential to transform the way dairy cows are nourished, ensuring better health, higher milk production, improved reproductive efficiency, and farm sustainability.
cholymet is a finely granulated, rumen-inert supplement designed specifically for dairy cows. It serves as a crucial addition to the diet by offering essential amino acids and vitamins while uniquely transforming how we feed our cattle.
cholymet contains a blend of essential nutrients, including choline, lysine, methionine, and glycerine. These components ensure the efficient delivery of essential nutrients to the lower gut of cows, especially during transition and early lactation periods when high milk production is crucial.
A farm study proved cows that were fed cholymet saw an increase in milk yields, total milk solids, and feed conversion efficiency, along with improved overall cow health. By including cholymet in your cow’s diet, you’re not only providing a valuable amino acid balancer but also taking a significant step towards reducing the reliance on soya bean meal in your animal feed.
- Reduces metabolic stress at the most critical time of the cows production cycle
- Helps meet the amino acid requirements of transition and early lactation dairy cows while reducing crude protein being fed.

Soya Bean Sustainability Challenges
Soya bean meal is typically used in food and animal feeds as a protein source due to its favourable amino acid profile. However, soya production is heavily debated within the agricultural industry due to its association with substantial carbon emissions and environmental degradation.
While many assume that soya is mainly used for human consumption and an alternative to dairy or meat-based products, according to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), almost 80% of the world’s soya bean crop is used in the production of feed for livestock.
The Agri-Food Industry Challenges
The agri-food industry faces the increasing, combined challenges of producing healthier food in an environmentally responsible way while being sustainably profitable.
Specifically, these are:
• Labour costs and availability
• Increasing feed and input costs
• Processor demands for total milk solids
• Environmental pressure to reduce total farm carbon footprint
• UK Environment Agency target of net zero emissions by 2030
Why we developed cholymet
We identified the environmental importance of reducing the use of soya bean meal in dairy feeding to complement the reduction in the feeding of palm oil and palm oil derivatives.
cholymet aims to assist with the protection of the environment by reducing the feeding of Soya Bean Meal, increasing protein utilisation, hence lowering the carbon footprint of UK milk production whilst offering the potential to improve farmer efficiency and profitability and increase the health-giving benefits of dairy products.

“Cows when fed cholymet, showed an increase in feed conversion efficiency and protein utilisation, with increased milk yield and total milk solids, with no difference in dry matter intake. Observations from the trial also showed an improvement of cow health and reproductive performance.”
